Job Description
The YBGR Ranch Hand will assist the Director of Ranch Donor Relations in YBGR farm and ranch operations to include general ranch/farm labor and the leading work crews consisting of YBGR youth and staff.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Assist in or perform general ranch duties to include: irrigation, repair of fences, and building maintenance.
- Provide general care to livestock by feeding, providing directed health care, and assisting with calving.
- General maintenance and labor duties as assigned.
- Safely operates light vehicles and farm machinery
- Lead work crews of YBGR youth and staff as needed assuring work is completed in a safe manner.
- Contribute to the strategic goals and outcomes of the agency as measured by the development and achievement of individual, departmental, and organizational goals and outcomes. Participate in Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) goals of the organization both individually and as a team member.
- Deal constructively and helpfully with all other members of the organization.
- Fully support and model the mission and values of YBGR.
- Adhere to all policies, systems, safety requirements, and procedures of the organization.
- Take the initiative to identify problems and seek out solutions.
- Be a professional representative of the organization to those outside it.
- Participate and engage in monthly supervision/coaching meetings with the supervisor.
- Be aware of the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of persons served.
- Participate in required training as appropriate to the position and beneficial to YBGR.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- 21 years old or older
- Previous Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 1 (one) year of experience working on farm/ranch.
- License and/or Certification:
- Valid driver’s license to operate passenger vehicle.
- Competencies or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s)
- Knowledge of and the ability to perform the tasks outlined in the dailey and monthly responsibilities.
- Operate vehicles including UTV, ATV, tractor, and other related equipment.
- Display regular, predictable and reliable attendance at work.
- Ability to relate and build rapport with youth while serving as a positive role model.
- Ability to work safely and independently.
- Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance: Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
