Ranch Hand Job Summary
***Experience is preferred, but not required- pay is dependent on experience.***
The Ranch Hand is responsible carrying out duties assigned to them by the ranch foreman/manager. These duties include, but are not limited to, working with both livestock & other ranch staff. The ranch hand will be tasked with carrying out all assigned ranch functions per the ranch foremans orders. This position is diverse and may vary on a daily basis. The Ranch hand should have basic knowledge in operating a tractor, baler, swather, pulling/hooking up various types of trailers. They should also have basic knowledge in the ability to maintain & fix fences, as well as be familiar with the tools required to do so. The ideal candidate should have a basic foundational understanding of working with, doctoring, managing, & keeping detailed records on all livestock involved in the ranch operation. The ideal candidate would be an intermediate level horseman – able to rope & ride in rough terrain to check the herds (this is preferred, not required). This position requires the ability to work in all types of inclement and extreme weather conditions, at all hours of the day (dependent on the season. i.e., calving, haying, etc.). The ideal candidate should have a self-starting, team-oriented attitude, & be comfortable working independently, as well as part of a team. Qualifications and Education Requirements
Must possess a valid Drivers License
Must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions and noisy environments; Must have the ability to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials and manipulating things.
Requires ability for sitting, standing, walking, lifting heavy materials, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing stairs & ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, repeated bends, crawling, reaching high and low; This is a Physically demanding position.
Must be willing and able to work as needed on a 24/7 basis.
