As an R&D Crop Scientist Manager (citrus agronomist/botanist) you will work on improving the quality and differentiation of our citrus products. Your role will be to support our citrus toolbox with products providing unique and differentiating smells, tastes, and flavors while improving the sustainability of our overall supply chain.

Job Description:
Manage strategic projects (actors, quality, costs, timing) requiring multi-competences (scientific, technical, management, communication) including several actors (private companies, universities, IFF R&D centers, LMR departments…)
Establishes long-term partnerships with manufacturers/suppliers located abroad to develop integrated supply chains with a high level of traceability and transparency from the field.
Conduct cutting-edge plant science research, analyzes and asses results according to reference documents to follow up on existing and new citrus crops, and select the best varieties for innovation projects in the citrus botanical field.
Look for the right external collaborators (universities, breeder specialists, growers…) who will leverage internal capabilities (corporate R&D, plants…)
Join the ongoing process of improving the quality of work done at IFF & LMR Naturals, notably by being a source of proposals for scientific and technological innovations.
Develop a cross-functional agricultural roadmap that assists in feeding the innovation stage-gate pipeline by addressing customer-backed, market-driven needs and identifying, creating, and prioritizing projects for new opportunities to deliver business growth.
Maintain excellent communication both vertically and horizontally within the organization, liaise and actively collaborate with stakeholders in cross-functional teams, and drive results to maintain project delivery according to timelines.
Maintain excellent relations throughout the Citrus ecosystem in support of our Citrus R&D and innovation agenda.
Contribute to the innovation pipeline by sharing industry insights and expertise.
Design and implement an educational program to enhance grower knowledge on citrus by-products using the latest technology available for training and user experience.
Align with citrus innovation agenda and lead agricultural research (field and greenhouse) through plots, side by sides, experimental design that aligns with IFF KPIs for short, medium, and long-term solutions.
Serves as the main point of contact and functional subject matter expert for citrus agriculture topics within the organization, providing support and technical expertise on a range of agricultural practices, including production practices, organic production, sustainable operations, climate risk assessment, soil health, biodiversity, water preservation, pesticide residue, and others.
Tactical partner for the citrus innovation team by following and sharing new scientific info and insights with multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams to drive strategic projects in the short, medium, and long term.
Partner with Procurement and supply chain to frame new business opportunities, and evaluate new and existing technologies and ingredients.

Job Requirements

An advanced degree in agriculture, agronomic sciences, horticulture, plant sciences, natural resources management, or a related field, with 10+ years of experience.
Excellent knowledge of agronomy, including agronomic research design, experimentation, implementation, data collection, statistical analysis, and interpretation.
Demonstrated experience with designing agricultural and sensorial research with proven ability and agility to interpret scientific data, including sensory and analytical, and guide significance as it relates to how it measures competitively in the industry
Certified Crop Advisor certification is required.
Demonstrated project management, negotiations, and problem-solving skills.
Experience working in an innovation environment is a plus, preferably for a B2B company.
Strong management skills as well as relevant experience implementing agricultural research and/or extension and educational programs.
Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience are required.
Strong organizational, project, and data management skills with experience analyzing, synthesizing, interpreting, and communicating complex scientific data and information (qualitative or quantitative) to diverse stakeholders.
Strong global networking skills with many agricultural stakeholders (e.g., growers, retailers, AgTech companies, crop consultants, government entities, and academia).
Team player with proven ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience working in a global organization with geographically distributed matrix stakeholders.
The position works closely with the Global Citrus Innovation Team with matrix links into the various divisional peer groups.
