Description:We are looking for a responsible and highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Controlled Environments Team. Our company is Made to Grow. We work hard to not only help the farmer grow but the world to be able to grow. CE is on the leading edge of this, and the green houses are an important step in the research process. Within CE, each team member has an important role, so this position is critical to keeping the research process moving forward.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Sanitation requires a good understanding of many common tools both manual and power assisted
Ride-on sweeper, ride-on scrubber, power washer, vacuum, and handheld blower.
Broom, dustpan, squeegee, pliers, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.
Basic understanding of how machines function to help with troubleshooting.
Perform routine greenhouse sanitation tasks like discarding regulated material, destroying waste, cleaning pots/containers, cleaning, and sanitizing rooms.
PPE/Safety are very important part of the sanitation world
We use various cleaning products that require proper mixing and PPE to apply safely and correctly
Lock Out Tag Out, (LOTO) is the process deenergizing working areas that are in the line of fire. Need to be able to understand and operate within our guidelines.
Safety glasses, steel toe shoes, and even getting fit tested for dust mask. Many times, we are cleaning in dusty environments.
Job Qualifications:
Inquisitive; Not be afraid to ask questions. It is better to ask upfront than make a mistake. We are part of a group that is constantly changing and is under many regulations and procedures.
Detail oriented is an important trait to have because some of the tasks that sanitation carries out require a keen sense of your surroundings as well as the ability to follow distinct instructions.
Hard worker; CE depends on us to get many tasks done before we can move into the next experiment. We have thousands of visitors each year and how the GH looks is very important to leadership.
Communication is the most important thing we do. It connects everything we do. We are going in areas and performing tasks that make good communication essential.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs., twist, pinch, grab, and able to be on their feet for long periods of time.
Must be able to tolerate hours of repetitive work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year-round.
Bonus Structure:
$500 paid after 6 months, $1,000 paid after 12 months (repeats every year worker stays onsite)

Pay: Up to $22.85 per hour
