We are looking for a farm crew member to join us this Fall for a seasonal farm position. Starting the last week of August/early September through the end of October. This position is part-time, 2-3 days per week on week days. Days of the week will depend on the person, scheduling, etc. Hours are 7:30am-4pm with a 30 minute lunch break. We will switch to an 8am-4:30pm schedule as the daylight changes with the season and frost begins to stick around later into the mornings. Extra organic produce from the farm is available in addition to the hourly wage. Total weekly hours for this position: 16-24 hrs.
Primary duties will include harvesting storage crops such as carrots, potatoes, and squash; weeding greenhouse crops; and packing produce.
Prior experience working on farms is not required, but past experience working in a fast paced environment, working on farms, doing sustained physical labor, and working outside is helpful. Must be able to lift 50 lbs repeatedly. This position requires you to work outside, rain or shine. Waterproof footwear such as muck boots is recommended, closed-toe shoes are required. We recommend you wear pants, long-sleeve shirt, and hat to protect yourself from the sun, as well as appropriate dress for the weather conditions. Please bring multiple layers to keep warm and dry. We have extra crew rain gear available, but you can also bring your own to work each day in case of weather. Do not bring your dog to work. We can send you our Employee Handbook for further details.
This is a temporary position that will end at the end of October. There is the potential to continue through the winter and/or join us for the following season if it’s the right fit for both parties.
