Job Description

SVdP maintains three urban farms across the Valley to provide fresh fruits and vegetables across SVdP’s food assistance programs, along with several volunteer and enrichment opportunities for the community at large. This position is instrumental in SVdP’s mission to feed, clothe, house, and heal individuals and families in our community who have nowhere else to turn for help. The VISTA member will coordinate with Urban Farm staff and stakeholders to further develop its online curriculum and materials, and refine processes to prepare the program for implementation. A major focus of the Junior Master Gardener program is to involve youth in the cultivation of nourishing food and community. Additionally, this position will support the Urban Farm Program by developing engaging social media content and researching other funding opportunities and partnerships. Media content will tell the story of the program, the people it serves, and the people who help the farms thrive to gather support for continuity of the program. This responsibility requires storytelling, marketing, and collaboration with Urban Farm staff to promote the program.

Member Duties : – Collaborate with the farm staff to finalize the development of the online Junior Master Gardener program and gather feedback to further its impact. – Conduct evaluations and assessments to identify areas for improvement and make necessary refinements. – Create a comprehensive plan for the sustainability and continuous improvement of the program beyond the VISTA term. – Develop and implement a social media strategy to increase awareness and engagement with the Urban Farm program that garners support from volunteers and donors. – Create compelling and informative social media content such as videos, photos, storytelling, copy, and graphics. – Evaluate the effectiveness of social media campaigns and make adjustments as needed. – Identify opportunities for collaborations and partnerships to expand the program’s reach through social media platforms.
