Majestic Greens Farm is on a mission to grow food, beauty, and relationships to the glory of God.
Context:
Majestic Greens is a small family farm just outside Bowling Green, KY. We are a market-garden-style mixed vegetable and flower operation with about 1.5 acres in cultivation in 2025. We farm with minimal tillage, organic, regenerative, and mostly human-scale methods. We sell via CSA, farmers market, and local wholesale accounts. We have a very active community that comes together seasonally for on-farm parties, workshops, and more. In 2026 we will be undergoing several significant changes: growing our team, expanding our flower production, and adding a new online order and delivery sales channel.
Harvest Crew Manager
Salaried Position: January-December 2026
Role: The Harvest Crew Manager (HCM) is a key role that will help Majestic Greens Farm provide high quality food and flowers to customers across multiple market avenues. This year-round position will be integral to the farm’s daily operation in its mission. HCM will lead all harvesting, cleaning, and packing of produce. HCM will also work with the CEO to train, direct, and supervise part-time harvest crew workers; ensuring consistent excellence in produce quality in keeping with food safety and customer-driven standards. While HCM will work primarily on Harvesting, they will also provide key support in other field work and some clerical support associated with order fulfillment. HCM will report directly to the CEO and work alongside a diverse team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead harvest, washing, and packing logistics for all vegetable produce.
2. Train, direct, and supervise part-time harvesters.
3. Help cultivate a culture of positivity and excellence in quality of work.
4. Clean, pack, and store produce to ensure the highest quality and value.
5. Implement new Food Safety standards.
6. Clean post-harvest work areas daily, helping establish a culture of cleanliness and good order.
7. Provide constructive feedback on ways to improve any and all work flows and infrastructure. Help enact improvements.
8. Collaborate with CEO and part-time order packer(s) to implement a new order packing work-flow for CSA, wholesale, and online orders.
9. Maintain clear, direct communications and a positive working environment.
10. Support CEO and other staff in general farm work, especially transplanting, bed prep, pruning, and trellising.
11. Maintain accurate harvest data using analog and digital systems.
Secondary Duties:
1. Assist in flower harvest and storage.
2. Assist in flower order packing.
3. Support CEO and other staff in infrastructure projects (primarily during shoulder seasons).
Candidate Requirements & Preferences:
Previous vegetable harvest experience, 6 months (minimum) 2 years (preferred).
Previous leadership or management experience.
Previous flower production experience (preferred)
Three responsive telephone references.
Reliable transportation.
Physical ability to lift 35 lbs on a daily basis (50 lbs on occasion), bend, kneel, twist, work on hands and knees.
Physical endurance to withstand work in all weather conditions.
Provide most of your own sturdy workwear and appropriate clothing, in keeping with company standards. (a stipend will be provided toward boots or other work wear.)
The ability to work around children and a diverse staff.
Clear, direct, and gracious communication style.
Pay up to $50 for a background check if you make it into the final round of consideration.
Schedule for the Season:
Seasonality. Farming is highly dependent upon the elements and changes of season. Our work is more intense at some times of year than others. We seek a healthy work-life balance and proper constraints to foster good, efficient work.
This is a year-round position, with some flexibility in scheduling and paid time off. Some weeks will require more work than others.
Daily crew start time will fluctuate with seasonal light and temperature constraints. Specific schedule will be determined by CEO with input from HCM.
Weekly schedule. HCM will work Monday-Friday.
Hours. HCM is a salaried position. Hours will vary somewhat throughout the season. For quality of life and as a general guideline HPM will be expected to work an average of 40 hours per week. Hours will be tracked for record keeping and performance review.
Harvest and field work will never exceed 7 hours per day
Cleaning, organization, clerical, and maintenance work will take up roughly one hour per day
Lunch and Break time will take up roughly one hour per day.
Paid Time Off:
HCM will receive 5 days paid time off and must be scheduled 2 months in advance. Some additional unpaid leave may be negotiated.
HCM is allotted 4 paid sick days throughout the season, additional sick time may be taken as unpaid leave if need arises.
Communication:
Weekly Team Meeting: Each Monday the whole farm crew will meet to lay out top priorities and schedule.
Task Management: A wifi- or network-engaged smartphone or home PC will be an important part of maintaining work flows and communication daily in TO-DOIST, Google Drive, text and email, and other farm software.
Off-time Communications: Majestic Greens encourages a culture of work-life balance. We will minimize work communications outside everyone’s scheduled work time. Calls or texts may be sent outside work, but there will not be an expectation of instant or constant communication.
Performance Review: Quarterly Performance Reviews will help ensure clear mutual understanding, sustain high quality of production, and foster a healthy workplace environment.
HCM and CEO will meet quarterly in:
Mid-March
End of June
End of September
Early December for Contract review and renewal
Pay: Harvest Crew Manager will be a full-time, salaried position. Pay will vary based upon the candidate’s experience level and trial shift performance. $35,000-$39,000 per year.
Opportunities for Performance-Based Bonuses will be offered throughout the season.
HCM will be paid by check on the first and 15th of each month.
Benefits: HCM is welcome to any vegetable and flower produce of the farm, so long as Lead Farmers give the OK on any scarce or specialty items.
The Farm will provide lunch for the whole crew at least once a month for community meals.
The Farm will also purchase protective gear needed for HCM and will provide a $120 stipend toward quality work boots or other workwear.
Majestic Greens Farm is open to HCM for specialty land-based projects or recreation. Details can be coordinated with the CEO.
At this time Majestic Greens cannot provide any retirement or insurance benefits. We aim to grow the farm business in order to afford more generous benefits for staff in the future.
