Poultry House Caretaker

Job Description

*House/Barn Employee – Full Time (1st Shift)*

Weaver Brothers Inc. currently has openings for full-time House/Barn Employees. House/Barn Employees are responsible for the health, welfare, and proper operation of poultry houses/barns. This is a 1st shift position requiring 40–50 hours per week, with additional hours as needed.

*Essential Functions*

* Monitor, feed, water, ventilate, and observe the general health of the birds
* Move through cage and cage-free systems to observe bird behavior and conditions
* Make repairs and adjustments to feeders, water lines, ventilation, egg collection, manure scrapers, and belt systems
* Catch loose birds within cage systems as needed
* Gather egg samples per house for weekly quality control checks
* Clean all areas of production as required
* Complete other duties as assigned

*Job Requirements*

* Ability to work in warm, dusty environments
* Ability to work in environments with manure and ammonia odors
* Ability to lift and transport up to 50 lbs. throughout the house/barn
* Ability to use ladders, steps, and railings on cage systems
* Ability to detect, assess, and communicate bird health concerns
