Farm Worker and Handyman

Job Description

*Overview*
Pete’s Greens seeks a handy person possessing skill and experience in two or more of the following areas: carpentry, plumbing, skilled use of hand tools/power tools, mechanical aptitude for minor farm equipment and vehicle maintenance. This could be a full or part time position, year round. Some weekend work is required on Saturdays.

*Responsibilities*

* Maintain a variety of vegetable washing and packing equipment in our washhouse – greasing fittings on a variety of equipment, adjusting chain tensions, repair and maintain pallet jacks, repairing wooden harvest bins, fix doors
* Conduct minor equipment repairs and general maintenance tasks using hand tools, and basic mechanical knowledge to keep machinery in optimal condition.
* Assist in maintenance of other farm infrastructure, greenhouses and outbuildings
* Work as part of a team making repairs and improvements to apartments
* Assist farm crew in fields as needed
* Wash and pack vegetables when no repairs or maintenance work is required
* Perform heavy lifting and physical labor necessary for farm operations while adhering to safety protocols.
* Assist other team members as needed to promote a collaborative work environment.

*Qualifications*

* Experience in carpentry, plumbing and/or equipment repair/maintenance and a desire to become skilled in many areas
* Ability to take verbal or written direction from different members of our team and then carry out tasks independently and efficiently
* Abilty to maintain organization standards on farm
* Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively
* Experience with welding or other repair techniques is desirable.
* Strong physical stamina for heavy lifting and indoor/outdoor labor in various weather conditions
* Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to farming activities, and record keeping.
* Flexibility! Work may be different every day. When there is no maintenance/repair jobs this person will join the rest of our washing and packing vegetable crew.
* Capable of maintaining communication with others on team via email/cellphone

Pay: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
