*Job Summary*
The Harvest Manager is responsible for all aspects of daily field harvest (raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry) to ensure that production goals are met. The Harvest Manager manages multiple harvest crews and their teams. Is responsible for keeping detailed harvest records from foremen and tracking on a daily basis. The Harvest Manager is directly responsible for communication with the shipper on pack-out-related items. This includes block, varietal, quantity, and post-harvest status on all products until they leave the field for delivery to the cooler. Oversee and schedule daily maintenance or cleaning of harvest equipment and supplies. Directly responsible for the harvest truck drivers and a planned delivery schedule with the shipper and fruit culls for processing.
*Duties*
* Plan and coordinate daily harvest schedules to maximize productivity and crop quality
* Supervise harvesting teams, providing clear instructions and motivating staff to perform at their best
* Monitor crop maturity and identify plants ready for harvest through plant identification skills
* Ensure proper handling of crops during harvesting to prevent damage and maintain freshness
* Conduct regular inspections of fields to assess crop health and growth progress
* Implement safety protocols for heavy lifting, outdoor work, and equipment use to protect team members
* Maintain detailed records of harvest activities, crop yields, and resource usage using basic math skills for data tracking
*Requirements*
Will be responsible for selecting Foremen, Punchers, Harvest team members, and truck drivers, and replacing those who don’t reach Rancho Laguna standards. Coordinate with Production Manager on non-harvest activities, including planting, pruning, weeding, and other activities as needed.
Work closely with the Production Manager and Pest Control Advisors to ensure compliance with all growing standards. Ensure compliance with internal food safety and quality standards. Maintain a safe work environment for employees. Drives proactive safety programs and ensures all employees are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements, such as Field and Worker Safety protocols set by the Safety Specialist.
* Strong teamwork and supervisory skills, and the ability to work with a wide range of personalities effectively
* Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, as required
* Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the trade and the proper use of safety practices
* Ability to understand and carry out instructions and to complete work assignments correctly
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors and other employees
* Effective communication skills to lead teams and coordinate tasks efficiently
