Job Description

Position Summary
The Operations Manager in Training is a leadership development role designed to prepare an experienced professional for future operational leadership within the Company’s farming, cattle, and agricultural operations. Working directly alongside the Operations Manager, this position will gain comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of the business, including cattle operations, land management, agricultural assets, equipment oversight, contract administration, insurance management, regulatory compliance, capital projects, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will develop a thorough understanding of the Company’s agricultural operations, ranching activities, land portfolio, and business systems through hands-on experience and progressive responsibility. This position is intended to serve as a succession-planning role, preparing the individual to function as a backup and eventual successor to the Operations Manager.
Agricultural & Cattle Operations

Learn all aspects of the Company’s cattle and agricultural operations.
Assist with oversight of ranch operations.
Support planning and coordination of land utilization activities.
Monitor operational performance and recommend process improvements.
Assist in evaluating equipment, infrastructure, and capital improvement needs.

Land & Property Management

Manage land leases, purchase agreements, easements, and agricultural property contracts.
Track contract compliance, critical dates, and renewal requirements.
Support land acquisition opportunities and property planning.
Maintain records related to property ownership, leases, and agricultural use.

Insurance & Risk Management

Manage property, agricultural, livestock, and liability insurance programs.
Coordinate insurance renewals and maintain policy documentation.
Assist with claims administration and risk management initiatives.
Ensure adequate coverage is maintained for land, structures, equipment, livestock, and other company assets.

Tax & Regulatory Compliance

Track property tax obligations and agricultural exemptions.
Maintain documentation supporting agricultural classifications and exemptions.
Monitor compliance with agricultural, environmental, and operational regulations.
Ensure records are maintained for audits, inspections, and regulatory filings.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agricultural Business, Agribusiness Management, Operations Management, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Experience in farming, ranching, cattle operations, agriculture, land management, or agricultural business operations preferred.
Knowledge of agricultural production, livestock operations, grazing practices, or farm management.
Experience with land leases, property management, insurance administration, or regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
Financial, analytical, and project management skills.

This position is part of the Company’s succession planning strategy for its agricultural operations. The Operations Manager in Training will work directly with the current Operations Manager to gain a comprehensive understanding of farming operations, cattle management, land stewardship, regulatory compliance, financial management, asset oversight, and strategic business planning. Through progressive responsibility and hands-on leadership experience, the individual will be developed to serve as a backup to the Operations Manager and ultimately become qualified to transition into the Operations Manager role.

Pay: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
