*Position Summary*
Farm Equipment Operator/Shop Help performs general farm tasks as directed, such as safely operating and maintaining the operational condition of various types of farm equipment to efficiently perform tasks such a soil tilling, planting, cultivating, harvesting of crops, and manure dispersal.
*Essential Position Duties*
· Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on the farm equipment and building systems
· Operates payloaders, tractors, skid steers, cropping equipment, semi tractors and other modern-day large farm equipment
· Performs other general farm maintenance and duties as assigned, including uncovering and covering piles, washing equipment, and other laborious duties
· Complies with all safety policies, practices and procedures and utilizes appropriate safety equipment at all times
· Participates in proactive team efforts to achieve company goals
· On call weekend rotation
· Other duties as assigned
Additional Duties:
_*Duties during a Growing Season:*_
* Field work including disking, plowing, planting, cultivating, etc.
* Perform maintenance on down machinery in fields
_*Duties during a Harvest Season:*_
* Check and clean out bunkers
* Pack pile
* Run dump carts if needed
* Cover walls and pile with plastic and tires
_*Duties during Manure Application:*_
* Move and place manure equipment as needed.
* Haul and disperse manure as instructed.
*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities*
* Mechanically minded individual who can trouble-shoot problems and is comfortable repairing and maintaining equipment and buildings
* Ability to utilize new technologies
* Experience operating large farm equipment and semi tractors
* Strong communications skills
* Problem solver
* Independently motivated / team oriented
* Ability to perform at a high level in a fast-paced environment
* Ability to follow written and oral directions
*Education*
High school diploma or equivalent
*Experience*
· Experience servicing and operating large farm equipment
· Manure applicator experience, a plus
*Essential Physical Requirements*
* Ability to lift at least 75 lbs frequently
· Variations in workloads relate to seasonal demands, may vary between 50-75 hours per week
(Occasionally: 1-25% of the time; frequently: 26-75% of the time; constantly: 76-100% of the time)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
