*Overview*
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled farm/barn help to provide animal care services on our farm on Monday through Friday AND Saturdays and Sundays (two different positions). The ideal candidate will have a strong background animal husbandry, specifically horse care, with the ability to operate various farm machinery . This role requires a hands-on approach to daily farm operations, ensuring the well-being of livestock. You MUST have experience caring for horses or other livestock, please do not apply if you don’t have that experience.
*Duties*
* Provide care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and monitoring health.
* Operate basic equipment
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment across all areas of the farm, cleaning up after yourself, etc
* Provide turn out/in for horses, based on agreed upon schedule
* General barn (sweeping, cobweb clearing, etc) and daily stall cleaning for 15 stalls
* feed hay and possibly grain to livestock daily
* ensure water troughs and buckets are clean and filled daily
* monitor livestock, medicate or treat if required, advise mgmt of animal injuries or issues and assistance holding horses for vet or farrier
*Requirements*
* Experience caring for horses and general horse knowledge required, at least two years; not just owning one/boarding one, knowledge of providing daily care for multiple horses
* Familiarity with animal husbandry practices and animal care techniques is necessary
* Experience with equipment and basic tools
* Ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly throughout the workday (hay bales)
* Strong communication skills, ability to consistently follow directions and work independently
* dependable transportation required, must have own car
* consistent schedule and reliability is critical. This is a physical position with work outside in all weather conditions.
Schedule
Start times can very but should be between 6:30 am and 8:30 am, approximately 5-6 hours of work each day is the minimum chores but we are more than happy to create an 8-hour/day position. Reliability is critical other than scheduled time off; maintaining a relatively consistent schedule once set is important. The daily chores are fairly repetitive and required every day so its always obvious and clear what needs to be accomplished. Hours could be as little as 5 hours a day or as many as 7+, depends largely on your efficiency and if you want to take on more tasks. Basic chores need to be completed by early afternoon so late in the day availability will not work.

Raise consideration based on performance and reliability after six months and every year thereafter. Average week one week vacation paid after one year and retention bonus of $500 paid after one year.
Pay: $16.00 – $18.00 per hour
