Schedule: Weekdays + Weekend Rotation, 1st shift
*Position Overview*
Traditional Grazing Solutions is hiring a Lead Vegetation Technician for a seasonal, full-time position focused on livestock care, mowing, and land management on a utility scale solar site. This role is ideal for individuals seeking outdoor work, farm or ranch experience, or hands-on land stewardship opportunities in the renewable energy space.
This is a seasonal position scheduled to end the week of December 1, 2026.
The Lead Vegetation Technician supports daily operations by combining sheep grazing management with mechanical vegetation control. This position works closely with the Site Manager and plays a key role in ensuring sheep well-being and vegetation management success.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Perform daily livestock care, including monitoring sheep health, forage utilization, water supply, and mineral availability
* Operate mowing equipment and complete vegetation management objectives
* Follow weekly mowing and grazing plans to maintain proper vegetation control
* Identify overgrowth, problem areas, and vegetation changes in the field
* Assist with livestock handling, including sorting, movement, and road crossings
* Support equipment use, transport, and recovery when needed
* Participate in weekly planning meetings and provide field updates
*Work Schedule*
* Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM to approximately 4:00 PM
* Weekend rotation (Saturday and/or Sunday): 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM for livestock care; mowing only if necessary
*Qualifications*
* Reliable transportation to and from job site (New Carlisle, IN)
* Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
* Ability to walk long distances across uneven terrain
* Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly
* Experience with farm equipment, mowers, tractors, or landscaping equipment preferred
* Self-motivated with strong time management skills
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
*Preferred Experience (Not Required)*
* Farm, ranch, or agricultural work
* Landscaping, groundskeeping, or vegetation management
* Equipment operation (mowers, tractors, brush hogs, etc.)
* Livestock handling or animal care
