Equity, Wisconsin’s largest livestock marketing cooperative, is also one of the nation’s largest livestock marketing organizations. Service to its members is a primary obligation of all employees. The responsibility of the person in this position is to positively conduct activities and services under the direction of the Market Manager in order to establish a strong, competitive and profitable marketing operation for all patron members, operate daily responsibilities in a manner that meets all Cooperative policies, and manage daily responsibilities in accordance with established goals, plans, procedures and budgets as directed by the Market Manager.
Essential Functions:
- Adhere and reinforce Equity’s Livestock Handling Policies and Guidelines
- Provide excellent customer service to all patrons
- Pick up livestock on the producer facility, transport livestock safely and efficiently between farms, processing plants and markets.
- Load and unload at appointed destination, Monitoring livestock during transit, ensuring animal welfare and compliance and regulations.
- Clean and sanitize truck and trailer per company guidelines
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained per company guidelines, maintaining accurate records. Cleaning and refueling vehicle.
- Other duties, as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Valid Class A CDL
- Proven recent gooseneck trailer experience
- Driving record acceptable to our insurance carrier
- Ability to meet all physical qualifications under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations
- Experience with livestock handling.
- Good communication, interpersonal skills and team work skills.
- Ability to smoothly adjust to last minute changes
- Must be reliable, punctual, and presentable.
- Must read, write, and speak English
- Involves physical labor, such as loading and unloading of livestock.
- Job may involve overtime and varied work hours.
- Lift at least 50 pounds.
