JOB DESCRIPTION
PEAK Genetics has an opportunity available to join our barn staff as a Livestock Specialist – Bull Handler in Billings, MT! In this role, you will be a member of a highly skilled team supporting the daily care, health, and collection of our elite bulls. This team is also responsible for the maintenance of the facilities and equipment. As a Livestock Specialist for PEAK Genetics, you will be surrounded by people who are passionate about the agriculture industry, bovine genetics, and client satisfaction. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
– Handle sires of varying ages and sizes in a calm, confident manner for optimum production
– Work in a system using established protocols
– Perform regular livestock care including feeding, cleaning, moving cattle, assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments, and other routine tasks
– Operate company farm equipment and vehicles
– Clean and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
– Comfortable working with large animals
– Willingness to learn and follow company protocols
– Must have a valid driver’s license
– Ability to perform occasional planned weekend duties
– Capability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
– Capacity to work on feet and stand for long periods of time
– Ability to move safely through a tight space of 13-15′ to exit livestock pens in case of emergency
Desired
– Previous livestock handling experience
– Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle
– Ability to perform basic equipment and building maintenance repairs
– Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field
Ideal
– Basic computer skills working with Microsoft Office
