Job Description
The Seasonal Harvest Team’s purpose is to assist in the Harvest and Storage of potatoes in a variety of locations on and off the farm. Available positions include: Harvest Line Graders, Tubers. Truck Unloaders and Spotters, Skid-Steer Operators, Q/A Technicians, and General Laborers.
- No experience necessary: will train!
- Start as early as July 29!
- Training is available in both English and Spanish.
- $1.00 per hour End of Season bonus available.
- Catered meals are provided during Harvest.
Core Responsibilities:
- Harvest Graders will by removing foreign material, vines, and rotten or damaged potatoes from a stream of product on a moving conveyor
- Tubers will be setting large corrugated ventilation tubes as we fill our potato storage bins.
- Truck Unloaders and Spotters help guide and unload potato bulk trucks with products from the fields onto conveyors at the storage bins.
- Skid Steer Operators & other general laborers help remove waste products, set up and move conveyors and equipment and maintain cleanliness and order at the line.
- Q/A technicians take samples of product, label them for our quality lab, and prepare them for transport throughout the day.
- For all positions, to report to work as scheduled, on-time and prepared, physically and mentally able to carry out the responsibilities of your Seasonal Harvest Team position.
- To be able to competently perform all instructions as given by the supervisor. This includes all loading, unloading and harvest line operations.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Have the ability to Multi-task.
- Must be detail oriented & goal driven.
Preferred Experience:
- While no prior experience is required, you must be 18 years old to apply.
- For Graders, attention to detail is very important, as you will be sorting potatoes as they are unloaded into storage bins, removing any foreign debris from them.
- Proven reliability is very important to this position.
- For Tubers, Q/A Technicians and other General Laborers, the ability to lift 25# periodically will be needed.
Work Schedule:
- The Seasonal Harvest Teams work schedule is highly dependent on the time of year and weather conditions. Employees will be expected to work as needed, which will require a great deal of flexibility as to the hours per day/week and the times worked. 60+ hour weeks are not uncommon.
- This is a seasonal, temporary position.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to visually separate potato product from other types of foreign material.
- Requires the ability to work on-site and in multiple locations and settings.
- Requires the ability to clearly understand basic verbal communication from others.
- This Job requires the ability to stand long hours.
