*Job Title:* Animal Care Technician
*Schedule: *Monday to Friday 8 AM to 5 PM
*Pay Rate: *24/hr
*Location:* Elk River, MN
*Contract: *11 months with possibilities of extension
*Job Summary*
The Animal Care Technician III is responsible for executing approved animal research protocols safely, accurately, and on schedule. This role combines hands-on animal husbandry, sample collection, data recording, and statistical analysis to support research studies and experimental trials.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with research animals, strong attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with animal welfare and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Execute approved animal study protocols in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Perform routine animal husbandry duties, including feeding, watering, animal observation, and general care.
* Collect biological samples and record animal weights, feed intake, and other study data.
* Monitor animals for signs of illness, distress, or abnormal behavior and report findings promptly.
* Compile and analyze research data, including performing basic statistical analysis.
* Maintain cleanliness of animal rooms, equipment, and research areas.
* Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of research and medical equipment.
* Document observations, deviations, and study results accurately and on time.
* Contribute to process improvements in experimental methods and daily procedures.
* Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations, biosafety requirements, and company safety policies.
* Handle administrative and technical tasks with minimal supervision.
* Assist with housekeeping and inventory tasks as assigned.
*Required Qualifications*
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum of 2 years of related experience in animal care, animal research, laboratory support, or agricultural research.
* Proficient computer skills for data entry and record keeping.
* Ability to follow detailed protocols and SOP.
* Strong organizational and documentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Experience in animal research, laboratory animal science, or veterinary environments.
* Familiarity with sample collection techniques and data analysis.
* Knowledge of animal welfare regulations and bio safety practices.
* Experience with statistical analysis and research reporting.
Pay: Up to $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
