GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS

The Greenhouse Technician is responsible for the implementation and management of efficient processes throughout the Nursery Grounds. They must be able to plan for daily operations and crew assignments. They must ensure all processes and procedures meet and or exceed all regulatory requirements and that they are conducted in a safe and effective manner. Working knowledge of Growing hydroponic crops and Integrated Pest Management best practices. Work with crews, growers, and management on aspects of Crop Inventory management and Job Preparation for seasonal planting and harvesting crews.

ESSENTIAL TASKS

The tasks fisted below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

The self-motivated individual must be able to work with and supervise/train others to perform daily operations.

Must have knowledge of greenhouse, nursery/growing operations as it pertains to inigation, temperatures, fertilizing, pest/disease control, soil analysis, pruning, potting up, etc.

Must understand and perfonn propagation techniques for crops of choice

Must be able to operate equipment and machinery

Will be responsible for overseeing Nursery Inventory Maintenance

Will oversee inventory from deliveries and onsitc operations

Responsible to Prep and Pull Job installation orders for crews based on job scheduling

Will be responsible for revenue generation from crops produced, as well as delivering products to customers
Must be willing to attend Saturday markets as needed

Have knowledge with MS Office for maintaining pertinent spreadsheets for operational and financial considerations
Responsible for setting and following annual and monthly objectives and goals

Responsible for monthly and annual reporting of Greenhouse operations to Business Operations staff, to include progress on objectives

Implement and enforce policies and procedures as directed by management and the NPTE.

Implement cash system controls and rectify issues as directed by Auditing

Ensure time clock is functioning properly and that all hourly employees are following policy.
Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, Bachelors Degree (horticulture, plant science, entomology, or related) highly preferred.

Two (2) years ofrelevant field experience preferred. One (1) year in a lead or supervisory capacity preferred.

Requires light work exerting up to 20 pounds of pressure, may occasionally move or lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
Requires walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, and repetitive movement of wrists, hands and fingers.
May occasionally require raising objects from a lower to a higher position.
Must be willing to submit pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
