Job Description

*Job Summary*

Raft River Sod is looking for a dependable and motivated Sod Harvest Supervisor to oversee daily sod harvesting operations. This position plays a key role in leading harvest crews, operating equipment, maintaining quality standards, and making sure sod is harvested, loaded, and shipped efficiently.

The ideal candidate must be bilingual in English and Spanish and have experience operating large agricultural or heavy equipment.

The Sod Harvest Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily sod harvest activities, coordinating employees and equipment, monitoring sod quality, assisting with local sod deliveries when needed, and ensuring orders are completed accurately and on time. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong communication skills, equipment operation experience, and the ability to lead both English- and Spanish-speaking employees in a fast-paced agricultural environment.

*Key Responsibilities*

* Supervise and direct sod harvest crew members during daily operations.
* Communicate clearly with employees in both English and Spanish.
* Coordinate sod cutting, stacking, palletizing, loading, and field movement.
* Operate large agricultural and heavy equipment, including tractors, loaders, forklifts, sod harvesters, and other related equipment.
* Assist with local sod deliveries when needed, including loading, transporting, and unloading sod safely and professionally.
* Ensure harvest and delivery operations are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
* Monitor sod quality during harvest, including thickness, moisture, appearance, stacking, and pallet condition.
* Communicate with management regarding daily orders, field conditions, equipment needs, labor needs, delivery needs, safety concerns, and production progress.
* Help schedule and organize daily harvest activities based on customer orders, field readiness, and delivery needs.
* Train employees on proper harvest procedures, equipment operation, safety expectations, and quality standards.
* Track production, pallets harvested, crew hours, equipment issues, deliveries, and other daily harvest information.
* Report equipment issues, complete basic inspections, and help ensure equipment is cleaned, maintained, and used properly.
* Maintain a safe and organized work environment in the field, yard, loading areas, and delivery sites.
* Ensure employees follow company policies, safety rules, and proper work procedures.
* Support other farm, field, delivery, or sod operation tasks as needed.

*Required Qualifications*

* Bilingual in English and Spanish.
* Experience operating large agricultural equipment, heavy equipment, or similar machinery.
* Ability to operate or learn to operate tractors, loaders, forklifts, sod harvesters, and related equipment.
* Previous agricultural, sod, farming, landscaping, construction, or equipment operation experience.
* Ability and willingness to assist with local deliveries when needed.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to organize people, equipment, daily work priorities, and delivery needs.
* Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work with limited supervision.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
* Ability to work long hours during busy seasons, including early mornings, evenings, and some weekends as needed.
* Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
* Valid driver’s license required.

*Preferred Qualifications*

* Previous supervisory, foreman, or crew lead experience.
* Previous sod harvesting or turfgrass experience.
* Experience making local deliveries or operating delivery trucks.
* Mechanical aptitude and ability to identify basic equipment issues.
* Experience loading trucks, handling pallets, or coordinating delivery orders.

*Physical Requirements*

* Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull as needed during harvest and delivery operations.
* Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods of time.
* Ability to work around agricultural equipment, uneven ground, dust, heat, cold, and other outdoor conditions.
* Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload sod when assisting with deliveries.
* Ability to perform hands-on work when needed to support the crew and operation.
