NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).
Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.
PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. This position is funded for 520 hours.

Qualifications:
HS/GED Degree
Commercial Driver License to operate dump trucks
Experience required with Windows, MS Outlook
Duties:
Operate and maintain diesel powered tractors, backhoe, skidsteer, and excavator with associated implements to carry out essential habitat tasks, including mowing, disking, rolling, spraying, and brush removal. Perform routine maintenance and operation of dump trucks to support infrastructure improvement and maintenance projects.
Operate and maintain tractors, heavy equipment, and dump trucks. 100%

Health and Safety Considerations: Must be DOI heavy equipment operation certified on all heavy equipment. This training will reinforce risks associated with equipment operation and the required PPE, which will be provided by the station.
Required Safety Gear: Mandatory requirements for equipment operation as a DOI employee include hard hart, safety vest, eye, ear and hand protection when operating heavy equipment in most conditions

Physical requirements: Requires constant arm and leg movement to operate the tractor and equipment controls to compensate for terrain features and accomplish the work.Must frequently exert effort to maintain balance and position at the controls.Bending and heavy lifting are encountered in handling supplies and materials (seeds, tools, equipment), and machinery hitches and connections. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
