Farm Hand/Laborer
Full TimeJob Description
*Role and Responsibilities*
* Assist recording information about crops, such as pesticide use, yields, or costs
* Assist with repairs and maintenance of farm vehicles and equipment
* Plant seeds or transplant seedlings by hand
* Harvest produce by hand
* Help identify and remove crop pests and weeds
* Inform farm managers of crop progress
* Load and unload agricultural products into trucks
* Work with and around tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops
* Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops
* Help repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures
* Help set up and operate irrigation equipment
* Apply pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops
* Assist in farm maintenance related tasks
* Assist in raising pastured turkeys that require daily watering, feeding, cleaning, ect.
* Other duties, as assigned
*Requirements*
Ability to work both totally unsupervised and in a small team environment. Ability to follow safety protocols.
*Preferred Experience*
1+ seasons of agricultural or landscaping experience preferred, or educational equivalent.
*Additional Notes*
This is a physically demanding job with constant exposure to outdoor weather. Common tasks include harvest of berries, meaning some early mornings are required (6-7am start time).
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $17.00 – $25.00 per hour
