Job Description

*Agricultural & Truck Mechanic*

*Shop Position, Hourly Non-Exempt, Full Time 40 hours per week plus overtime*

*Check/Calibrate Farm Equipment , Farm Vehicles, Trucks and Trailers*

· Correct any problems with equipment or vehicles

· Repair defective engines or engine components – must be able to perform major overhauls and repairs

· Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair with Supervisors; service vehicles to maintain functionality

· Make sure all equipment functions properly and is ready for use

· Order parts if necessary from Purchasing Department

· Maintain, repair and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles such as: tractors, harvesters, balers, bale wagons, graders, backhoe and irrigation pumps (Hesston, John Deere, Case, Caterpillar)

*Preventive Maintenance*

· Make sure all equipment is taken in to shop for repair in a timely manner according to maintenance schedules

· Inspect mechanical equipment to locate damage, defects or wear

· Replace worn, damaged or defective mechanical parts; clean and lubricate parts properly

· Maintenance logs are being properly filled out; must be able to fill out work orders and report parts used for maintenance and repairs. Report labor on projects correctly.

*Workplace Safety*

· Ensure employees are working in a safe and efficient manner

· Ensure proper PPE is distributed and always in use

· Ensure employees listen to directions and discipline if needed

· Implement safety procedures – lock-out/tag-out and proper disposal of hazardous materials

*Shop Oversight*

· Make sure shop location is clean at all times

· Make sure inventory in shop available for equipment maintenance is fully stocked; plan and advise for material orders

*Starting at $27/Hour DOE*

_*Experience:*_

Eight years working on diesel engine ag equipment in a shop setting desired.

Experience in using a lathe and/or mill machining equipment desired.

Must have experience in and be able to demonstrate hands on the ability to troubleshoot and repair diesel engines independently. Must have significant experience and ability to perform major repairs to diesel engines independently.

· Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, milling and woodworking machines, lathes, welding equipment, grinders or saws

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust. Good judgment in determining best method and procedure to be followed.
