The ideal candidate for this position should hold a high school diploma or GED and bring at least three years of hands-on experience with various types of farm machinery and equipment, possess a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems and an eye for detail. Candidates must have dependable transportation.
*Essential Functions*

* Extensive, in-depth diagnostic, repair, and recondition, of equipment including but not limited to, tractors, small engines, all-terrain vehicles, construction, and farm equipment.
* Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems for Ag equipment
* Maintains accurate records of work performed.
* Reports work shortages and malfunctions of shop equipment to the Service Manager.
* Completely disassembles and inspects equipment within recommended timeframes
* Recommend necessary repairs to the Service Manager.
* Keeps shop vehicles clean and properly serviced.
* Participate in continuing education with factory service schools.
* Makes service calls as assigned by the Service Manager.

*Work Environment *
Occasionally travel to job sites or training, work in both outside and inside environments. At times, temperatures may be below 30 degrees or may exceed 90 degrees. Occasionally (< 25 % of the time). There may be intermittent exposure to vibration and noises over 85 dB, as well as exposure to non-toxic fumes, grease, oils, and gases.
*Physical Demands*
Work involves repetitive work of a mechanical nature with regular, 50-100% of the time will require bending, stooping, and standing, including the need to move and lift heavy objects weighing 50lbs to 100lbs.
*Required education and experience*
* A high school diploma or equivalent is required
* At least 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic
*Preferred education and experience*
* National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence-certified diesel mechanics are preferred
* An associate degree in diesel technology or completion of a traineeship is required
