FARMER + HOSPITALITY ASSISTANT
Job Title: Farmer + Hospitality Assistant (Part-Time)
Reports to:
Wayne (Property Manager) for daily operations, Trisha (Farm Lead) for farm tasks
Location:
Limestone Fields, Lake Limestone, TX
Schedule:
20-30 hours/week, flexible + variable
Compensation:
$24/hour
Role Purpose:
You split your time between maintaining our one acre working farm and supporting property operations. This is a hybrid role for someone who loves variety – one day you’re growing vegetables, the next you’re preparing for an event. You help wherever needed most.
Primary Responsibilities:
Farm Maintenance (~15 hours/week):
Implement seasonal planting plan with support from Farm Lead
Vegetable bed production and maintenance (planting, weeding, fertilizing)
Pest management and prevention (organic+ practices, no chem)
Irrigation management
Harvest – wash, pack, and store products
Composting and soil care
Support Farm School chef residencies (setup farm for guests)
Lead occasional guest farm tours (when requested)
Feed and care for chickens, ducks, and two mini cows
Property Maintenance (~10 hours/week):
Grounds upkeep (mowing, edging, landscaping, trail maintenance)
Pre-arrival property walkthroughs (check for anything out of place)
Supply inventory and restocking (linens, amenities, firewood)
Event setup/breakdown support (tables, chairs, lighting, signage)
Minor repairs and preventive maintenance tasks
Equipment operation (tractor, mower, tools)
Schedule & Workload (flexible hours based on needs):
Morning-focused for farm tasks (watering, harvesting)
Afternoon flexibility for property tasks
More property/event hours during peak season
More farm hours during growing/planting season
Event weekends: Additional hours for setup/breakdown
Qualifications:
Must Have:
Gardening or farming experience (even home garden level counts)
Comfortable with outdoor physical work
Self-directed and reliable
Flexible schedule availability
Can operate tractor, mower, basic equipment (or willing to learn)
Nice to Have:
Small-scale farming or permaculture knowledge
Landscaping or grounds maintenance experience
Equipment operation experience (tractors, mowers, power tools)
Hospitality or guest service mindset
Success Metrics:
Farm rows maintained daily (no wilted plants, weeds controlled)
Property always “show-ready” (guests arrive to immaculate grounds)
Event setups happen smoothly and on-time
Equipment properly maintained and stored
Pre-arrival walkthroughs catch issues before guests notice
5S standards maintained (tools returned, areas organized)
Physical Requirements:
Lifting 50+ lbs (soil bags, equipment)
Bending, kneeling, reaching (farm work)
Standing/walking for extended periods
Outdoor work in heat, cold, rain (Texas weather)
Operating machinery (tractor, mower, power tools)
