Join a family-operated farm near Shelton, NE, growing corn, soybeans, and seed corn. This is a hands-on, year-round role performing all farm related tasks from spring planting through winter shop work. No livestock involved.
What You’ll Do
* Assist with all phases of crop production: planting, fertilizing, spraying, irrigating and harvest
* Operate and manage summer irrigation (gravity and pivot systems)
* Operate modern John Deere tractors, planters and various brands of equipment.
* Operate a semi tractor/trailer hauling seed corn, corn and soybeans from the field to various end users during harvest and from bins to end users during the spring and summer months. Including hauling water and fertilizer to equipment in the spring and summer months.
* Perform related tasks to keep a farm running. Everything from spraying weeds and mowing ditches to any other tasks that are performed on a modern irrigated row crop farm
* Perform equipment cleanup, maintenance and shop work during the winter off-season
What We’re Looking For
* Prior farm work experience, ideally with row crop production
* Familiarity with gravity and pivot irrigation systems
* Basic mechanical skills and equipment maintenance know-how
* Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
* Physically able to handle the demands of farm labor
* A reliable, responsible self-starter willing to put in the hours when the season calls for it
Schedule
Expect 40–60+ hours/week during planting through harvest. Be able to work Saturday’s as needed during the growing season, Sunday’s only if weather delays time sensitive operations. Hours ease up considerably in the off-season to 20-30 hours/week and no weekends. Paid time off over the Christmas Holiday season along with flexible paid time off the rest of the year according to the time of the season.

* Salary in the $75,000 plus range, based on experience and work history
