Job Title: Full Time Technician – for equipment operation/maintenance & repairs, logistical handling inputs, and grain set up, operation/maintenance, tile installation and repair.

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTION: This position is responsible for operation/maintenance and repair of machinery, maintenance of buildings/farmsteads, handling crop inputs, taking care of crops, grain setup operation/maintenance, and drainage tile repair and installation, safely mixing, transporting and cleaning of chemicals, and safe and efficient transportation of equipment on and off the road.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Maintenance/repair of all machinery, equipment, vehicles, plus semi-trucks and trailers. Utilizing annual and in-season maintenance/repair to maximize uptime and effectiveness.

2. Precise, efficient, and safe operation of tractors/equipment, vehicles, semi-trucks and trailers. This involves Spring tillage, assisting with pesticide/mixing/hauling, handling seed and supplies for planting. You also will be doing some summer crop care targeted toward crop scouting and pesticide mixing/hauling. In the fall you need to operate tractor/grain cart, tractor/wagons, semi-tractors and trailers to move grain from fields to elevators/bin-setup in a safe and orchestrated manner.

3. Maintain and care for shop, machine sheds, storage buildings, houses, and farmsteads to promote longevity and function.

4. Optimize the handling of inputs as they are delivered to the farm. You will be involved with storage at the farm, and then delivery to the field. This would involve the following inputs: seed, pesticides, fertilizer, tile, parts, nitrogen, and accessories.

5. Operate and maintain the grain setup including bringing in beans and corn for storage and assisting with corn drying in a way that promotes efficient unloading.

6. Productive and safe installation and repair of tile including tile probing to find old tile, coming up with ideas to install new tile, spade/shovel to bed start holes, flagging/layout with UTV, hooking in lateral tile to mains/submains, stringing 4” up to 24” tile for installation with plow or trencher, stuffing tile into trencher boot, load/unload and tying down tile on trailers and stringers, and hauling tiling equipment to and from job sites.

7. Proactively maintain and repair tile equipment in season and out of season to minimize down time.

8. Foster teamwork by working with a positive mental attitude and being respectful with all we interact with.

9. Taking the initiative to work with Greenstar/GPS monitors, receivers, in order to maintain and manage subscriptions, file downloads, and annual file cleanup, and boundaries.

10. Safety involving: machinery/equipment, energy handling/storage, pesticides, bin setup, vehicle/road.

Experience Required:

-Priority will be given to a potential candidate with strong mechanical repair background on farm equipment & semi- trucks/trailers.

-Ability to lift 70 lbs.

– Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.

– Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

– Two years’ experience with farming, especially in row-crop farming, as well as two years�� CDL experience.

Education Required:

– Forklift certification.

– Valid driver’s license with CDL class A, air brake and manual transmission endorsements.

– Clean driving record.

Pay: $18.00 – $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 – 80 per week
