Position: Farm Landscaper
Reports To: Owner and Farm Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: Seasonal Support Staff
Position Overview: Maintain property operations and appearance to the high standards set forth by management. Perform a wide range of landscaping operations including mowing, pruning and trimming, fence installation and repair, care of flowers, bedding plants and trees, use of small equipment and safety procedures.
These duties may be described as, but not limited to:
Perform all assigned landscape tasks, including, but not limited to installation of plant material, care of flowers and bedding plants, trimming and pruning trees, dead tree removal.
Operate small equipment, i.e. blowers, hedge trimmers, rotary mowers, string trimmers, chain saws, pressure washing.
Responsible for all retail plants and flowers- purchasing, cutting.
Understand and perform basic construction methods and materials.
Irrigation system operation, installation and repair- drip systems, pipe repair and head repair.
Supplement other landscape crews on special projects or with daily activities as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace.
Most work is performed outdoors. There is no effective protection from weather.
Must be able to exert well-paced ability in a limited space, and to reach other locations of the property and grounds on a timely basis.
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds on a regular and continuing basis, to bend, squat and frequently lift 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions—one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school or equivalent education preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years grounds keeping experience preferred.
Ability to obtain and/or maintain any government required licenses, certificates or permits.
