NanBop Farm is a beyond organic, regenerative farm located in Cadillac, Michigan! We are a dynamic farm with BIG goals! We are a functional farm that is focused on education, food, and fun! We want to highlight the realities of farming while sparking the joy of cooking fresh, nutritious food sourced locally. We have laying hens in full lay, goats, and full vegetable production! We aim to be an educational center on all fronts: internships, farm tours, small conventions, agrotourism, TV segments, classes, and more.
We are looking for an enthusiastic farmhand to be an active participant in the farm. The right candidate would have a passion for both vegetable and livestock production and will be expected to work with both aspects of the farm daily.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and dependable individual to assist with weekly farmers market operations and on-farm flower production. This role is a combination of customer-facing sales at our local market at NanBop farm and the Sara Hardy Farmers Market on saturdays in Traverse City, and on-farm flower production that directly supports bouquet sales at Markets. Flower production is hands-on agricultural work, supporting the growth, harvest, and presentation of our cut flowers.
Key Responsibilities
Farmers Market Duties:
· Set up and tear down the market booth (tent, tables, displays, signage, product)
· Transport, organize, and display flower bouquets and produce options for market
· Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable service
· Handle cash and digital transactions accurately and efficiently
· Maintain an attractive, well-stocked display throughout market hours
· Provide answers to questions regarding the growing practices of vegetables and flowers
· Track inventory and sales of all items, reporting low stock or high sales volumes for popular items
· Coordinate with Farm Director to ensure the requisite details about our farms practices and the produce we produce
Flower Production Duties:
· Weed, water, and maintain flower beds using sustainable practices
· Assist in planting, transplanting, soil amending, and bed preparation
· Harvest flowers in appropriate stages to ensure quality and longevity
· Process harvested flowers (hydrating, trimming, bunching, and storage)
· Help create bouquets and arrangements for market sales and on site events (as needed)
· Monitor flower crop health and report pest pressure and/or disease issues identified in the field
· Assist with season extension tasks (hoop houses, frost protection, etc.)
Qualifications:
· Strong work ethic and reliability
· Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
· Ability to lift 30-40lbs repeatedly
· Good communication and customer service skills
· Attention to detail, especially in flower handling and display
· Basic math skills for handling multiple types of sales transactions
· Prior farm, gardening, or retail experience is a plus but not required
Schedule and Work Environment
· Regular weekend and Thursday evening availability for farmers markets
· Seasonal position (spring through fall)
· Early mornings required for harvest days
· Mix of outdoor fieldwork and market environment

· Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
· Positive attitude and a willingness to learn new practices and techniques
· Creativity in arranging flowers and merchandising displays
