*Responsibilities*
* Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment such as excavators, forklifts, tractors, sweepers, refuse trucks, and other industrial machinery using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals.
* Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, hydraulic system checks, brake repairs, and transmission servicing, to maximize equipment lifespan.
* Fabricate custom parts or modifications as needed using welding, soldering, hand tools, and power tools to meet specific operational requirements.
* Troubleshoot electrical systems and components within heavy machinery, utilizing automotive diagnostics tools and electrical schematics.
* Operate heavy equipment safely during testing and repair procedures to verify functionality after maintenance or repairs are completed.
* Maintain accurate service records, logs, and reports detailing repairs performed, parts used, and diagnostics findings, by computer based programs.
* Collaborate with customers and team members to provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs clearly and ensuring satisfaction.
*Qualifications*
* Proven experience working as a mechanic or service technician specializing in heavy equipment repair; dealership experience is highly preferred.
* Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, suspensions, air brakes, transmissions, HVAC systems, and electrical components.
* Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with schematics is essential.
* Very strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic processes and procedures for diagnostic repairs.
* Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and OEM manuals effectively.
* Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, forklifts, tractors-trailers, farm machinery, and industrial equipment.
* Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused attitude to deliver timely solutions.
