We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Livestock Handler/Production Technician to join the Quad Five team. The primary focus of this role is the daily, humane bleeding of sheep and goats to support our serum manufacturing and defibrinated blood production. While the core of your day will be focused on these biological production processes, the ideal candidate will also have a strong background in agriculture to assist with broader facility maintenance, equipment operation, and general animal care. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail in a production environment, and a willingness to work outdoors.
*Duties*
* Safely and humanely handle sheep and goats for daily blood collection in support of serum and defib blood production.
* Follow strict hygiene, handling, and labeling protocols for biological manufacturing materials.
* Perform general animal care tasks, including daily feeding, grooming, and health monitoring of the flock/herd.
* Manage livestock handling, sorting, and transportation safely and efficiently.
* Maintain cleanliness and strict organization of bleeding areas, work areas, and barns to promote safety and product integrity.
* Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors and forklifts.
* Conduct equipment repairs and facility maintenance as needed, utilizing hand tools, power tools, and basic welding skills.
* Assist with irrigation systems and ensure proper watering of pastures or crops.
* Participate in planting, growing, and harvesting crops as per seasonal requirements.
*Qualifications*
* Familiarity with animal husbandry practices, specifically the safe and low-stress handling of sheep and goats.
* Comfortable with, or willing to learn, daily blood collection procedures in a biological production setting.
* Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in farm equipment repair and facility maintenance.
* Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.
* Physical ability to perform repetitive tasks and heavy lifting as required by the job.
* Basic math skills for production tracking, measuring feed quantities, or calculating irrigation needs.
* Knowledge of irrigation systems, power tools, and hand tools is essential.
* Experience with horticulture, greenhouse management, or general farming practices is advantageous.
* _Experience in a veterinary, laboratory, or biological manufacturing setting is a strong plus._
