The PE Farm Manager position is responsible for managing, coordinating and supervising all aspects of the PE row crops operation located at Louisiana State Penitentiary.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years of farming experience that involved the use of mechanized equipment; or experience in a correctional or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders engaged in farming activities.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience for a maximum of four years.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties

The PE Supervisor position requires supervising inmate workers and monitoring performance and quality of products produced, ensuring safety, resolving issues and maintaining compliance with regulations.

Manages and oversees PE row crops/agricultural operations to insure all operate productively and profitably.

Confers with the appropriate Wardens or institutional representatives regarding inmate assignments, transfers, and security.

Additionally, confers and informs the PE Regional Manager & PE Agriculture Manager on reports, preventative maintenance programs, new products, new processes and expansions of existing row crops/agriculture operations.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probation, or Promotion of a permanent, classified employee of LA DPS&C – CORRECTIONS SERVICES (Adult DOC)

Current permanent classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation: The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make at each level over their career and NOT the amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
