Carlson Repair is a trusted local repair shop serving Humboldt and the surrounding communities with quality heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance. We also maintain our own fleet of trucks, trailers and equipment. We’re looking for a skilled Tractor-Trailer Mechanic to join our team and help keep vehicles on the road safely and efficiently.
*Job Summary*
* Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems on tractor-trailers and semi-trucks
* Perform preventative maintenance, including inspections, oil changes, tire work, and DOT compliance checks
* Troubleshoot and fix issues with suspension, axles, lighting, and other trailer components
* Weld and fabricate as needed for repairs
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment while documenting all service work in Fullbay software.
*Responsibilities*
* Perform comprehensive inspections and diagnostics on tractor-trailers, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
* Conduct repairs and maintenance using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and specialized machinery.
* Service heavy equipment such as payloaders, large forklifts, farm machinery and other company owned equipment to ensure optimal performance.
* Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues involving air brakes, alignments, shocks & struts, HVAC systems, and diesel engines.
* Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed on all vehicles and equipment via Fullbay shop software.
* Assist with tire service, wheel alignments, hydraulic repairs, and general vehicle maintenance to uphold safety standards.
*Skills*
* Experience as a diesel or tractor-trailer mechanic (2+ years preferred)
* Strong knowledge of air brakes, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy-duty equipment
* Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
* Own basic hand and power tools (several shop tools provided)
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL a plus)
* Ability to lift heavy parts and stand/bend for long periods
Pay: $30.00 – $38.00 per hour
