*Overview*
The *Heavy Equipment Operator / Yard Laborer* position supports *Urban Solutions* yard operations and mobile project work across multiple states. This role is intended for candidates who already have hands-on heavy equipment operation experience and are comfortable performing general labor duties in an active yard environment. Team members support inventory, material handling, cleanup, cycle counts, loading and unloading, and other day-to-day operational needs while safely operating heavy equipment as required. *Because project timelines move quickly, candidates must be ready to contribute immediately; this is not a training role.* _This position requires interstate travel and flexibility to support fast-turnaround project and delivery needs._
*This role requires proven heavy equipment operating experience and is not a training opportunity; candidates without prior equipment operation experience will not be considered.*
*Daily Duties*
· Perform a variety of general labor tasks in yard, depot, and project support environments.
· May handle various construction materials on yards and stockpiles across multiple state areas.
· Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment and assist with maintaining accurate inventory and cycle counts.
· Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas, including general cleanup and site support.
· Support *Urban Solutions* operations with quick-turnaround product and material readiness needs.
· Assist with equipment operation as needed.
· Able to be dispatched within the Urban Solutions footprint, including MD, DC, NC, SC, GA, and parts of TN.
· Follow all company safety procedures and reporting requirements.
· Work closely with a small team to support launch-phase operations and provide labor support where needed.
*Job Requirements*
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Attention to detail.
· Prior hands-on heavy equipment operation experience is required; previous general labor experience in construction, yard operations, or materials handling is strongly preferred.
· Experience operating heavy equipment is highly desired, and additional training may be provided.
· Valid driver’s license required.
· Ability to work 40+ more hours per week, particularly during peak periods or when operational demand increases.
· Ability to work independently, as well as within a cross-functional team environment.
· Strong attention to detail, dependability, and willingness to support a variety of tasks.
*Working Conditions*
· Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift materials throughout the workday.
· Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· Work outdoors and in active yard or project environments in varying weather conditions.
· Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety boots, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and hard hats, as required.
· May be exposed to dust, noise, grease, and other conditions commonly associated with construction yards and project sites.
*Physical Requirements*
o Sit, walk, kneel, bend, crawl, and crouch for extended periods of time.
o Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of machines or vehicles to exact positions.
o Ability to judge the distances between you and an object, depth perception.
o Ability to respond to a signal when it appears, reaction time.
o Coordinate the use of hands, arms, and legs fully. Reach for the handle and use it to manipulate objects and materials.
o Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
o Vision – the ability to see details at close range and details at distance (either naturally or with correction).
o Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
o Mental and visual attention is necessary to effectively complete work tasks.
*Environmental Conditions*
o Work outside and be exposed to the weather.
o Wear protective or safety equipment, i.e. safety boots/shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, etc.
o May be exposed to high levels of noise, grease, dust, and a variety of substances that are typically associated with a construction site.
