Our 5th generation family farm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Farm Operator to assist in daily farm operations, manage equipment, and ensure the well-being of the crops. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills and experience operating heavy machinery. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic agricultural environment, contributing to farming practices and farm maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain farm machinery, including tractors, irrigation systems, and other heavy equipment
- Perform equipment repairs and welding as needed to ensure operational efficiency
- Work in crop cultivation activities including fertilizer/pesticide application, planting and harvest
- Conduct routine inspections of grain, buildings, and equipment to identify maintenance needs
- Safely operate semi tractor trailers in transport of grain, fertilizer, etc
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for various repair and maintenance tasks
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all farm operations, including heavy lifting and equipment operation
Skills
- Experience in an agricultural setting preferred
- Class A CDL (J51 exemption is ok) or ability to obtain the license is required
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform equipment repairs and welding
- Extensive experience with farm machinery, heavy equipment operation, and hand tools
- Ability to operate forklifts and power tools safely
- Strong understanding of farming practices within agriculture or horticulture environments
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations related to planting or livestock management
- Heavy lifting capability required for moving supplies
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures for farm infrastructure and equipment
